Where are we going?
I was excited to see a Hindi Newspaper online along with e-paper - exact replica of the print version. These things make one nostalgic when away from home. I was amazed to see Sunday's Kids' Corner section. I remember, to grab these pages first, we used to fight. But then, it was a shock to follow. There was an article for kids on Internet Safety, in which a typical sentence reads like:
Where are we heading to? Do we want to tell next generation that Hindi/Urdu words like prayog/istemaal, saavdhaani, maata-pita etc., are too strange to be used by the "educated" (or those who have got computers at their home)? Who will be responsible if we loose these words from the language after 20 years?
It's a pity that the whole Kids' section was like that. Computers, Mobiles, Video Games blah, blah... no Cheeku, Tinni, haathi, sher, khargosh. Why do we want to kill their imagination and take away some beautiful words from their own tongue?

Amit bhai, mashallah bohot umda baat kahi hai aapne. Dil khush ho gaya. Waqai, shabd/lafz khote ja rahe hain.....they are getting lost...recently Nida Fazli said this. The mad rush for English alternatives.....likhte rahiye.....Cheers!
@indscribe: aapne gaur farmaaya, iska bahut bahut shukriya. lafz kho jaate to bhi theek tha, ye be-raham ko lafzo ka qatl kar rahe hain!

badi gehri baat kah di aapne... gehri baat hi nahi, balki gehri samasyaa kehnaa padegaa...
vaise meri hindi bahut acchhi nahin hai, par in khayaalon kaa maan rakhte hue, main koshish jaroor karoongi...
ham sabne iske liye koshish karni chaahiye... hamein, samacharpatra (kyaa yeh sahi shabda hai?, vaise tum samajh to gaye na, mujhe kyaa kehnaa hai) mein khud likhnaa hoga... hamaari umra ke logon ke haath mein hi hamaaraa aur hamaari bhaashaaon ka bhavishya hai... varnaa, hamaari bhaashaaon kaa vahi haal hogaa , jo ab adivasi bhaashaaon kaa ho rahaa hai... log, use ek vishesh bhaashaa/vishesh vishay ki nazar se padhenge...
mujhe bhaashaayein seekhne mein badi ilchaspi hai, isliye, yeh baat mujhe bhi bahut buri lagti ahi
@Hetal: Hindustani mein swaym ko vyakat karne ka achchha prayaas kiya hai. Humko koshish karni chahiye ki hamaari bhashaoan ko aane waali peeDiyaan vishesh drishti se na dekhein. Ab dekho, SaikDon bhashaaon ki janani Sanskrit ka kya haal hua hai apne hi desh mein.
I came across this blog while searching for something on google. Amit your nearness to the culture, the roots, the India as I knew it in my childhoos is indeed applaudable. I have been out of India only for a month physically but reading you and taking this journey with you I realized I had lost "India" way way back...Kudos my brother, you made me fall in love with my mother tongue again...
